History

Something old out of history, like these mountains and the traditions of this land. Hints of many colours that are captured in the De Antoni garments in boiled wool, created to warp in passion and in warmth.

Something new, like the careful study of materials and production methods that combine authentic craftsman's values with the desire to achieve perfection.

It is in this home, just outside the centre of Comeglians in the heart of Carnia that are rich in vegetation, where craftmanship, more than being a job, is a way of life. Hospitality is still an important value and man lives in harmony with nature.

The De Antoni family has built is history here. A history that now continues in Mrs. Maria Teresa's passion for wool and for the beautiful colours and shades obtained by the knowledgeable integrating of colours and in her search for softness and absolute quality of her garments in boiled wool.

Men's, women's and children's jackets and waistcoats, capes, slippers and small tapestries etc. A production with the unique characteristics that only the meeting of patient working by handand the most advanced technology contained in the natural materials allows. Every De Antoni model is made by craftsmen, from the original idea to the finishing touches. The working of wool in the De Antoni firm is completely trusted to the experience of the family.

The working of wool in the De Antoni firm is completely trusted to the experience of the family. In the first step the threads are chosen depending on their naturalness and the instrict characteristics of the wool. This is an important phase as it decides the softness and the resistence of the garment.

Than the creative moment follows, putting together the different threads to create new fabrics of inimitable shades of colour. It is one secrets of the originality of the De Antoni jackets and waiscoats.

The weaving is put in the expert hands of the firm's workers and an irreplaceable knitting machine, wich is costantly checked to obtain optimum results without imperfections.

The pices of wool are now ready to be boiled. This is probably the most delicate phase of production, here everithing counts, the water, the temperature, the weather, and above all the skill of who decides the parametres to follow. At De Antoni they use only the most traditional methods, adapted according to the needs of modern materials.

The wool cloth is then dried in the mountain sun and carefully pressed by hand, aquiring the exellent characteristics of both being water resistent and very warm.

Once the material is ready it needs to be cut. Classic cuts as dictates by trdition, but aware of the evolution of tastes. Sewing follows, and all the other touches that make a simple garment in boiled wool into an exclusive De Antoni garment.

Every detail is expertly cared for, from the buttonholes and the trimmings in velvet to the finest linings and the beautiful needlework that often enhances the women's and children's models. Everithing is strictly swen by hand.
